Our Cat and the Computers

We all know the friendly feeling we have towards our beloved Macs. It is difficult to put in writing what is so captivating about the Macintosh. After listing the reasonable facts, we still just can't express why we feel the way we do. Often we must resort to saying, "It's a Mac thing."

I say it is our sixth sense! I even have a story to prove that the Mac has something a PC doesn't: a certain effect that is detectable even by animals. Well, our cat certainly detected something.

Here is a little story I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. The characters in my little tale include our picky cat, Morci; one Mac, and two PC computers.

The Story

A friend asked my husband to get a PC for him and his friend from eBay. Another friend wanted a Mac. When the first PC arrived, we placed it on a little table in our "technical" room where Morci sometimes takes her nap during the day. We worried a little that Morci would jump up on the table and accidentally entangle herself in the cables. Instead, our cat stayed clear of that table. Days went by. My husband tested the PC and the owner came and took it away. The little table was free again and Morci went back to her territory. Then, the Mac arrived. We thought that our Morci would stay away again, but she jumped up on the table and happily went to sleep half way on the keyboard. We thought that she just had enough and wanted her favorite place back no matter what. However, when the Mac went to its owner and the second PC arrived a couple of days later, Morci disappeared again. Then, we realized what was happening. She didn't object to something being on her table. She only had problems with what we put on that table. She didn't want to be near a PC, but she was very happy to share her little table with a Mac!

Did I mention that she is a very picky cat?

Who would have thought that even animals can feel the difference? What else can it be other than the sixth sense!?
